What a weekend for Gold Coast Master Rowers Club at the Queensland Masters Rowing Championships! It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout this year, not just from those racing, but also from the many members who came along to cheer, support, and celebrate the club spirit that makes our community so special.
First and foremost, congratulations to every single competitor who took to the water. Whether you came home with a medal, a personal best, or simply the satisfaction of racing hard, your efforts represent the very best of our club.
Standout Performances & Special Mentions
A huge shoutout to Peter Fox, who competed in his very first regatta alongside Peter Guest - a milestone moment and a fantastic achievement. Even more remarkable is Peter Guest himself, who continues to race competitively in his late 80s. An inspiration to us all and a true embodiment of lifelong rowing.
Cauan delivered an exceptional performance across the weekend, placing either 1st or 2nd in every race he entered, including an impressive three wins. Consistency, strength, and determination on full display.
Congratulations also go to Lea and Jolien, who were presented with the inaugural Bells of Queensland award. This perpetual trophy, awarded by Rowing Queensland, recognises the most consistent and competitive Masters scullers across a series of regattas including Scenic Rim, Lake Wyaralong, Brisbane & GPS, culminating at the Queensland Masters Championships. Being crowned “Swiftest Sculler of the Series” is no small feat - a great achievement for both.
