At Gold Coast Masters Rowers, we often hear the same thing from new members: “I wish I had started rowing sooner.”
The truth? There’s no such thing as “too late” when it comes to rowing.
Whether you’re looking for a new way to stay fit, reconnect with a team sport, or simply try something different, rowing offers a unique blend of challenge, camaraderie, and reward and it welcomes people of all ages (over 21's) and fitness levels.
A Sport That Meets You Where You’re At
One of the best things about rowing is its adaptability. You don’t need prior experience to get started, and you don’t need to be an elite athlete.
Our Learn to Row program is designed to take complete beginners through the fundamentals step-by-step, building confidence on and off the water. From learning how to handle the boat to mastering your stroke, each session is structured to help you progress at a comfortable pace.
And the best part? You’re never doing it alone.
More Than Just a Workout
Rowing is often described as the ultimate full-body workout and it is. It builds strength, endurance, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness all at once.
But what truly sets rowing apart is the community.
At Gold Coast Masters Rowers, you’ll find a group of people who are just as passionate about supporting each other as they are about rowing. From early morning sessions to social catch-ups, there’s a real sense of belonging that keeps members coming back.
Many of our members started as strangers and quickly became lifelong friends.
From Learn to Row to Lifelong Rowing
Our Learn to Row program is just the beginning.
Once you’ve built your confidence and skills, there are plenty of opportunities to continue your rowing journey; whether that’s joining regular training sessions, participating in regattas, or simply enjoying a relaxed row on the water with friends.
We encourage all new rowers to stay connected by rowing in doubles or quads, or by joining in with more experienced crews. It’s a fantastic way to keep improving while being part of the team.
Why Gold Coast?
There’s something special about rowing on the Gold Coast.
Training at Lake Orr in Varsity Lakes means calm waters, beautiful surroundings, and a welcoming environment that makes every session enjoyable. It’s the perfect setting to learn, grow, and fall in love with the sport.
Ready to Give It a Go?

Our Learn to Row program runs regularly and is open to all skill levels. Whether you're looking for a new challenge, a social outlet, or a way to stay active, we’d love to welcome you on board.
